Aston Villa's dismal form in the Premier League continued on Saturday as they were comprehensively defeated by Brighton and Hove Albion. The Seagulls snapped a six-match winless run with a 2-0 victory, while Villa's struggles deepened after failing to register a single shot on target.
It was the first time Villa had managed just two shots in a Premier League match since May 2016. The result leaves them 16th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Ollie Watkins scored both goals for Brighton, his second hat-trick of the season. The Seagulls have now won their last five Premier League meetings with Villa, with an aggregate score of 14-3.
